Farmers' Market Four o'clock in the afternoon
and the sun is achingly bright so I don
a favourite pair of sunglasses before
venturing the three or maybe four
blocks to the weekly farmers' market
held Wednesdays at the end of my street.

Each stall is shaded with a canopy
in blue or white canvas, each bounty
of fruits and vegetables and homemade jams
and honey butters overseen by vendors who can
make change on a dollar a dozen ways
from coins kept in Ziploc bags. They

Display a rainbow of produce on tables
arranged in a square so I'm able
to stroll the perimeter and, at a
glance inspect each red tomato, banana
peppers golden and plump, onions

Our heroine and her liability partner during the 74th Games. Katniss looks younger here than I usually draw her, but then this is an older sketch.
